What you're probably looking for is how to make the BIOS use either the onboard video
or the PCI Video Card video driver. According to the HP website, you should be using
the integrated onboard video but you said that you had tried to install the "V card
driver"? I'm wondering if you had (or have) a PCI video card that you use in lieu
of the onboard video.
In any case, go to the HP 8655C - Installing or Replacing a Video Card to see how to access
the BIOS and select the video drivers to use.
If that doesn't solve the problem then you can check out the Monitor Name and Available Display Settings Incorrect page.
Let us know how you make out.
