If you look in the options section of NAV you will see a red circle. This indicates
that your computer is not being protected. If you try updating the virus definitions,
nothing happens. The problem is usually caused by corrupted update files. In my opinion
it is wise to shutdown the auto update feature on the options page and update manually
frequently. I have had the problem you are experiencing and the only solution was
to completely uninstall/reinstall.
NAV/Symantec Support. If you have the NAV installation CD retrieve the product
code numbers from the sleeve.
