I was afraid of that. My symptoms were similar, not the same. Nevertheless, the stutters are caused by the computer attempting to do too many things at once and giving the sound card the lowest priority.

But I don't have it during the run of any programs and you do. Using Ctrl-Alt-Del I know that I have 9 background processes. These are run by a 1.33GHz CPU. What's your setup?
