Windows forgets logon identity and passwords while running

Hello,

I'm using Windows 98 SE with all available Security Patches etc. installed. The Machine runs fine for days without restarting. Username and password are required on startup.

There is just this little Problem: Windows, while running, repeatedly forgets who is logged in (after 1-3 days of running). The result is, that I can't login to my Server anymore because it requests the identity, and that, if password option is enabled, I cannot reactivate the machine if Screensaver is running - making the system unaccessible with the only option of resetting the system.
Also, as a result, logged on user is no longer shown in Start menu, nor is 'log on as different user' etc.

Any ideas or experiences with that problem please?
