I had this same problem on an old Packard Bell when I used SE instead of the recovery
disk. Take a look inside on either your sound card or the mobo if it's an "onboard"
sound set up, usually the chip has a recognizable name or number on it. Just do a
google search for the driver and you'll be good to go.
