Are you referring to jpgs opened standalone or as
content of Web pages? IE is a pig at the best of times
and is really not a good choice for viewing standalone
images.
Either way, try the same thing with Firefox. If the same
symptoms occur, we will know the problem is not
IE-specific. At the same time, you will be using a far
superior browser that is also infinitely more secure
than IE. (You can keep IE on your system as a standy
while making FF your default browser.)
