I was having the same problem, I read the thread and tried the Folder Options thing
before I read all the thread. DO NOT TRY THAT. I did however get everything back
to normal. After searching the registry, testing settings, etc. I found that the
Correct Problems wizard in TuneUp Utilities 2004 was able to correct the problem.
I checked both the Icons displayed incorrectly under the System catagory and the
Explorer, Desktop, Taskbar under the registry catagory. Quite frankly I was supprised,
but I have always liked TuneUp. I dont know if this helps, It fixed mine.
