It would be nice to know what type of Internet connection you're using. If it's dial-up,
the Winsock repair may be the key?
Repair Internet Explorer: Select Start\Run, type MSINFO32 in the 'Open' box
and press enter. From the 'TOOLS' menu select 'Internet Explorer Repair Tool'. Then
from the next menu select the repair option.
If you have installed any new software before this happened, there's a possibility
that it may be effecting your Internet connection. If you're not sure, try running
SpyBot.
There could also be a Winsock problem. Run the tests listed on the site below and
be sure the symptoms match. This goody will replace the Winsock files, correct the
registry entries and re-install DUN. Obviously you will need to copy the program
to a floppy on another system and then to your Desktop. Winsock 2 Fix
