Your machine won't support High Density RAM which is about all that is sold anymore.
You have to specify Low Density of the same speed (preferably) and it should marked
as such. Spec 133 LD RAM will usually clock down to 100. HD (High Density) is not
backward compatible IME with Spec 100 and won't mix well. Additionally, better to
either order it from HP or go to a site like Kingston or Crucial, look up your machine
and use the recommended memory. Those PC manufacturers had a habit of using out
of the ordinary spec modules sometimes. Outside of that, it "could" be bad memory
if you want to try and return it for another stick. Also make sure that the machine
will handle the size, combo, and module config of memory that you are trying to use.
In other words, sometimes you can use a 256 module but it must be double sided (usually
LD).. If you purchased a single sided 256 module, it won't work in older machines.
Your owners manual should tell you for sure. Good Luck.
