Hey gang in a bit of a tough place here. A few days ago my computer started up and there were NO icons on the desktop and no start up bar, and a message asking me to type in the key to my windows 98 disc. But the font was weird and when I typed in the key it simply said that the key was incorrect. Frustrating? You bet, but it gets a little worse. By holding down F8 I can get to my DOS prompt, however I cannot switch drives. I was able to load up a previous version of windows, however it now boots up to just my desktop, no longer asking for my product key...but no icons, no my computer, no start up bar. And when I ctrl+alt+del...the only program running is HIDSERV. This is frustrating, I feel that this might be a virus and I cannot retrieve any of my txt files...which sucks because I write a lot. Any advice would be appreciated.
