Delayed Input

I have a delayed input from my keyboard, mouse movement, the telephone dial tones
come in spurts, etc.(most occur when I'm working off-line). I had this problem last
December and it finally quit occurring, but as I was doing multiple things I never
did know what cured the problem. On this occurrence I've done a number of things:
1) removed unnecessary Norton AntiVirus programs from MSConfig startup and have
changed the Liveupdate from automatic to manual and at the same time removed MSTask
from the MSConfig startup. 2) I have scanned my hard drive with Ad-Ware; SpyBot
Search & Destroy, CW Shredder; RegClean; Disk Cleanup; ScanDisk, Disk Defrag; The
Ultimate Trouble Shooter and corrected anything that looked suspicious. The only
other thing I know to is run Can You Hijack This, but I am not technically competent
enough to take any action from the results.
Is there anything else that anyone can recommend? I appreciate any help you may
have to offer. Dewey Nelson
