Most people never use more than two or three fonts, though hundreds may have been installed by Windows and various applications (they seldom ask first). Rather than unistalling the unwanted fonts or simply deleting their files, copy the files to a CD-ROM THEN delete them from your hard disc. To restore them if necessary, just copy them back from the CD. This has the effect of unloading or loading the fonts and essentially is the process performed by (usually) expensive font-manager programs. You will be surprised how many MB this process may save.
