Morning Monica,
Start with your computer turned off.  Turn on monitor first.  Then turn on your pc. 
 Watch the screen.  Do you see a memory count taking place?  If so, how high does 
it go?  If you don't see the count go to at least 16 mB, then I would guess that 
someone took memory sticks out of the computer, or the sticks may have become dislodged. 
 You might try looking inside the computer - but turn it off first.  Don
