Jeanine,
Go to Start>Run, type msconfig, hit enter. Click on the startup Tab and un-check
everything but systray and Explorer. Shutdown the Computer and reboot.
Once back at desk top, go to Start>Run, type defrag. When finished, go back to msconfig.
On the general tab click normal start-up. Shutdown and reboot.
You can also run defrag from Safe Mode. Hold down F8 key, on start-up till boot menu
appears, select Safe Mode, Enter. Run scandisk then reboot.
