You have virus damage and it may still be active. The error you received, is probably
due to the Regedit.exe file missing.
- Download this copy of REGEDIT.EXE and copy it to the same floppy.
- Boot the inoperable system again while holding the CTRL (or F8) key to
enter the boot menu.
- Select the COMMAND PROMPT ONLY option and press enter.
- From the C:\> prompt, type COPY A:\REGEDIT.EXE C:\WINDOWS (note
the 2 spaces) and press enter.
- Next from the C:\> prompt, type REGEDIT A:\EXEfix08.reg (note the
space) and press enter.
- You will see a progress indication (Importing File) as the file is merged into
the Registry. When the C:\> prompt appears again, remove the floppy and
restart the system.
