thank you mrCharlie and JmC, for the quick reply.
mrCharlie, this is not the answer I was looking for; uninstalling the new media player
would bring me back to sqaure one- I will not be able to play embedded videos on
some sites requiring newest media player, the reason I installed it.
JmC, I went through the File Types and all of them are correctly associated with
the media player
As I said, I went to the old MediaPlayer options and selected all file types to be
associated with it.
moreover, when I click all the files in Windows Explorer [shell] everything is working
OK
In Internet Explorer, after clicking on WMV, AVI, MPG etc., the files are also opened
with MediaPlayer
but they are first downloaded completely and then starting to play in media player.
I want it to be played the minute I click on WMV [or other streaming formats] and
then continue downloading as it plays the video, like it was before I installed the
new media player
(beforehand, whenever I clicked on WMV/AVI/MPG the media player would immediately
open, connect and start buffering and then play)
I suspect it has nothing to do with the association in the 'Folder Option -> File
Types' :
(current setting in WMV, AVI, MPG: Open as default, "C:\Program Files\Windows Media
Player\mplayer2.exe" /Play "%L")
since what is defined there is the command run when the file is finished downloading.
I believe that some reigstry values were changed with the installation that concern
the behaviour of internet explorer when linked to video files. :-(
I realize that this is kind of unusual question, as I did not find anything related
to my problem in google.
