You do use WinXP, correct?
If a bad ole32.dll file is your problem, you may be able to fix it via a download
of that file (it's important though that you have the right version), or from your
own hard disk or your WinXP CD.
It's unclear to me from your message: you are able to boot up, but your desktop
and Start menu don't appear, correct?
If correct, try this first:
Boot into safe mode with command prompt. Run the Windows system file
checker at the command prompt in the command prompt window, using this command (note
the space between SFC and the forward slash):
SFC /SCANNOW
Follow any on-screen instructions.
Have the WinXP CD nearby as you may be prompted to insert it.
When the process is done, reboot.
