Even XP has no native support for SATA drives. But, XP has an installation option
to add drivers for SATA, SCSI, RAID, etc. This is the famous "F6" trick. Unfortunately,
I have not heard that 98 has a similar option.
However, if you settle for 98 on an plain IDE drive, then it might be possible to
connect the SATA drive as a secondary drive, such as for data, or maybe even the
98 swapfile. See the following article about adding an SATA drive ot an existing
PC:
http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,111654,pg,8,00.asp
Here is another article that suggests it is possible, at least on some motherboards:
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/ew/2005/01/24/stories/2005012400200400.htm
Note that the "drivers" go with the disk controller, usually on the motherboard,
and thus come from the motherboard maker. They do not come form the hard drive maker.
If the motherboard maker offer 98 drivers, then they probably also provide advice
on how to install them.
