Were you watching the POST report when the PC tried to boot up? In other words,
do you know if the POST found any hard drive at all? It sounds like the power lead
wasn't fully inserted.
Even had it found the Hdd from the newer PC, it wouldn't have loaded WinXP without
a lot of major changes that involve countless differences in the hardware between
the two systems, and a re-activation as well.
