I have a strange problem.
I am trying to install windows 98 on a newly formated hard drive This is on a Toshiba
Tecra 8100 500mhz with
64mb ram laptop and 10gb hard drive
I got it used and it came with xp which was working fine
untill I tried to install acrobat reader and I was getting
corrupt cab error.
Since I did not have an xp cd I formated the hard drive
and tried to install windows 98 but I got stoped right at the begining with a corrupt
setup cab file I tried to narrow down the problem and eliminated some of the ones
already discussed here
I copied the files to a partition that I made on the hard drive and tried to install
from there in order to eliminate the cd but I have the same problem. I also tried
loading
other programs from different cd's with similar corrupt
cab errors I also tried different linux version but they all had different errors.
I also bought another larger 30mb hard drive and I still have the same problem
I am trying to extract the files manually but I can only extract a couple of files
before I get a corrupt cab error
I am running out of things I can try.
I was wondering if anyone came across this strange problem on a pc or especially
on a laptop
I ran scandisk many times without any errors
This situation only leaves the memory or the motherboard combination.
