It is a hardware problem.  Could be caused by any piece of hardware without a more 
specific error code.  Memory or CD drive, cable etc.  If those are OK, then you are 
looking at a device on the motherboard being defective.  In that case, it isn't worth 
repairing. I would remove the memory module(s), clean the contacts with a pencil 
eraser, reinstall them and try again.  If that doesn't help here is a mem tester 
to try:

If no problems are found, then you are looking at a CD ROM/cabling issue or the motherboard 
is bad.
