You may be right since I don't know too much about laptops but your statement doesn't
make sense to me.
"because your Toshiba laptop is expecting to process proprietary Toshiba constructed
cab files you are getting corrupt cab file errors at every turn"
My laptop is trying to process windows 98 cab files
not proprietary Toshiba constructed cab files and why should that cause corrupt cab
file errors,
If it needed some special software I think I should get a different error message.
How would it process it's proprietary cab files if it cannot load then in the first
place ?
I would be curious if anyone knows what kind of proprietary drivers there are on
this hidden sector and if there is any software that can access or maybe dump
the information from the hidden sector to a file
The cdrom and dvdrom should make no difference
since they can be replaced with other brands.
About the only thing I can think of is maybe the video
and sound since they cannot be replaced so I will get the
restore cd for that if the windows 98 drivers won't work
Also I believe it has a self diagnostic tool that can be usefull too
