Most of that website was a repeat of MS. However, i do have a Realtek RTL8029(AS),
i installed the old Win98 drivers, but when i shut down it STILL went to the "It's
now safe.." screen. I replaced the Realtek with a 3Com, once again it went back to
the "it's now safe..." screen on shut down. As a last resort, I removed ANY trace
of network cards from my PC. Guess what? NO luck, the dreaded "It's now safe..."
message never goes away.
I tried disabling APM, and enabling ACPI. This did NOTHING! I think i've tried everything
suggested on that page. I've even reset the CMOS settings, of course, this did NADA.
What puzzles me is that the MS page nor the WST page ever mention the "It's now safe.."
message at all. I wonder if i'm just wasting my time trying all this stuff when all
of it is meant to fix PC's that 'hang' on shut down. I'm really stumped right now.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.
