seskanda,
This may not have been included in MS article.
1. Left click on Start
2. Left click on Run
3. Type "msconfig" (without the quotes)
4. On the General tab you will click on the "Advanced" button on the lower right
hand side of the panel
5. Put a checkmark in the box beside "Disable fast shutdown"
6. Before you click OK, close all programs that you have running and save any work
you have up.
7. Now return to the System Configuration Utility in your taskbar and click OK and
OK. Your computer will inform you that you must restart your computer. Click OK
This will only work if you did NOT download the Windows98 Shutdown Supplement, or
if the install did not work.
One feature of the install is the removal of this item from msconfig Advanced Tab.
If "Disable fast Shutdown" is still on the advanced tab. Install the shutdown supplement
again. I have seen reports of this taking a few tries to succeed.
Download the Shutdown supplement to the Desktop and install when everything else
is shutdown. Immediately restart and check msconfig for "Disable fast Shut down"
entry. If not there, the install worked. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
