What about *other* things that try to exploit the WWW port or the FTP port
at the same time you are accessing one of these secure sites?
What about the other 65,535 ports you leave open by disengaging the firewall?

It's clear you don't understand what a port is or what a firewall does.

In another thread you said you don't run a firewall.
You also say that you run Internet Exploder.
If you are willing to assume the risks associated with these risky behaviors,
so be it.

Advice to others to do EITHER of these
IS **FAR** OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM of even the most casual of security sources.
This is a DISservice to those who would read it.
