If you don't want to be criticized, stop spouting drivel.
The data set from which you are working is too small to be significant.
Start doing your homework.
The malware forums have a backlog of folks who do the kinds of things you advise.
If people follow your lead,
it is not a matter of *IF* they will be infected, but *WHEN*.
DISABLING A FIREWALL IS *NOT* ADVISED.
|Are you saying you have exposed your sensitive information to this War Zone
|by surfing the net on the same machine that stores such info?
|now Who's being Security foolish?
|
That would be you.
You are YEARS behind the curve on computer security awareness.
While some exploits are aimed at data on your box,
it's the exploits which seek to do malicious damage to your OS
that are troubling to the most people.
Current exploits try to use your box as a launching platform
to remotely distribute exploits in a massively parallel fashion
thereby eating up the CPU cycles and bandwidth of your infected box
and possibly inviting a visit from law enforcement agencies.
|Your approach to security is not the ONLY valid approach.
|Your opinion is not the ONLY valid opinion.
|
Yours is not even on the chart--at least nowhere near the "Acceptable" column.
Perhaps you've noticed the link in Carol's footer;
advice by the Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals
is a starting point for security practices.
