Hi Sanjit,
Yes, you do have to edit Autoexec.bat, but it's very simple to do. Open Autoexec.bat
in any text editor, go to the bottom of the file, and add a new line:
drive\mouse.com
drive\ represents the location of the mouse.com file. You can leave off the ".com"
if you like - just put "mouse".
You can put the file anywhere you like. Be aware that if you choose to access it
directly from the CD, and your CD is normally drive D, it will become drive E when
you boot from the Win98 disc, because Windows reserves the letter D for the RAM which
it sets up during the boot process.
It's not necessary to load a mouse driver. It might be useful if you plan to use
a DOS program which supports a mouse, for example the MS-DOS Editor, but you can
do without it.
