Sounds like you are still using Internet Exploder (against better advice).

It sounds like you are back where you started.
Have you actually said what steps you took?
(Windoze needs a graceful Shutdown to save its state; crashes don't count.)
|would I get it from the Win98 disc?

You haven't told anyone any details of what the batch file was.
My guess: It has nothing to do with the default install of Windoze.
Go back and repeat the steps you took to get rid of the message
then do a clean Shutdown.
|And if this batch file is missing, would that cause the PC
|to freeze up so that a manual shut down is necessary?
