Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it. 
The only thing depicted was "batch file missing". It did not expand on that. It then 
progressed to a normal blue screen where I put in the password. 
I initially was looking at things on the web and wanted to take a look at something 
in favorites. I clicked on the item on the "favorites" drop down menu and right clicked 
on it. Right clicking on it may have been the problem. I should have left clicked. 
I did once I returned to the regular site, I LEFT clicked on the favorite's item 
and it proceeded fine.
The first time when I right clicked on the favorite item, the PC froze up and required 
a manual shut down which led to the erroneous shut down warning and the scan. When 
that finished, it went to the black screen which is normal I think. 
There was the little blinking dash and then the "batch file missing" message. This 
stayed for a few seconds and went on to the regular login page. As I said, it did 
not state "which" batch file was missing.
