Yup, and HDTV effectively cannot be broadcast. It is extremely sensitive to interference,
that is, when it gets any the screen does not show static, it goes black. I researched
this myself 3 years ago, reading the FCC papers and so on. When we go to HDTV in
Feb'09 it will mean that TV will be cable or satellite only. Your local TV station
is broadcasting its HDTV signal at only a couple watts anyway. (I looked up the
broadcast power of my local stations where they register with the FCC.) Maintaining
these is a sham, I suppose, to avoid the protest that would come if people knew broadcasting
will come to an end.
