Try this.
If you haven't, first make sure the "write protect" slide is protecting your 98 boot
diskette.
I assume your computer searches for the A or B drive first and boots from either
if available. If NOT then
start the computer and press DEL key to get to Bios Config pages. From Bios you
can change the boot sequence so that A or B is first on the list.
Start the computer with Boot disk installed in A (or B)
Once you boot up you should get the A:> (or B:>)prompt.
Type C: return
and get C:>
Type dir /a:d return
and verify you are commanding the C drive as the default drive.
Type FORMAT return
(you don't need the drive letter since the default drive is the C drive)
After format is complete
Continue with the 98se setup.
