1) The side of the packaging the device's came in says that it supports your OS
(Windows 98SE).  Right?

2) You are using Windows 98 Second Edition.  Right?

3) The device driver you are trying is specifically for your OS.  Right?

A **Device Driver** is a piece of software.
It is generally transported on a piece of hardware (typically a CD or floppy).
If you didn't get one with the device, you got snookered. See "more savvy" (above).

Windows 98 does NOT have out-of-the-box universal USB support.
YOU must make the effort.
The first step is to obtain a Window 98SE-compatible device driver for the device.
The logical place to get a device driver
is the Web site of the manufacturer of the device.

If that fails, this is a "generic" driver for USB Mass Storage Devices.
