At last. As these have been ongoing problems. The yellow ! nolonger exists nor is there a shutdown problem. For the first, when many times before, just rebooting with the Iomega zip (parallel port version) connected has been sufficient!! The driver can now be read properly. For the second option, just updating the BIOS was enough to eradicate the shutdown problem. Can BIOS cause similar problems under XP and Vista? Now all I have is a crashing infrared driver, the PNP driver of Toshiba ACPI (Unknown), monitor slippage and crashing issue . I have not had the time to look into your suggestions regarding the first two yet. I will. However, additionally, to replace these drivers (first 3) I have contact MS, as the OEM cannot help. I hope they get back to me? They did and not able to help!! Also, where can I locate these drivers of and for windows 98? Additionally, I know it is possible to extract single files from the original OS CD's. But I do not know where the infrared file and PNP/ACPI driver is stored? Any ideas how to identify them, not 100% clear? A "driver" folder exists and inside "input" seems the mostly likely option? With "add-ons"; "cdsample"; "tools" and "win98" folders. This is only an update version of w98. Add/Remove Software also requires knowing the source on the CD. For ACPI the OEM does supply a APM driver for w98. Will this assist with the ACPI driver issue? Will the w95 driver for infra red and display be any assistance to the infra red crashing problem and for monitor slippage? As these drivers are locatable on the OEM's website. Windows 98 is renouned for crashing. But can I minimalise this? Jonathan.
