Installing Windows From CAB Files On Your Hard Drive

If you want to reinstall Windows and you don't have a Windows CD, try this:

If Windows is still working:
Start | Find | Files or folders
 | Look in: C:\  (Include subfolders) | Named: WIN98_74.CAB

If Windoze is dead, you can do this from the Command Line (DOS):
C:     (Enter)
DIR  WIN98_74.CAB  /S     (Enter)

Either way, if it says "File not found", buy a Windows CD.

If it doesn't say "File not found"
write down what it says and add that to the thread with your problem.
(Expecting something like Directory of C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS.)

To reinstall Windows, you will need your Windows Product Key.
When you have it, WRITE IT DOWN
and put a copy of it with your jewelry and other VALUABLES.

Here are 2 ways to locate it BEFORE YOU ALTER YOUR HARD DRIVE:
cache of http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

cache of http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scripts_desc/cdkey_dos.htm
