IE 5.5 is perfectly stable and useable with Win98. In the 9 years I've been using
Win98 (i.e. ever since it came out) I've never had a problem with any version of
IE.
I upgraded from IE5.5 to 6 in order to surf more complex websites, such as MySpace,
YouTube, and Google Video. I wasn't sure there would be much of a difference, and
in fact there wasn't. IE6 seems to behave just as IE5.5 did, and I actually can't
tell the difference between them. IE6 doesn't seem to be an improvement.
If you've experienced no problems with IE5.5 then DON'T upgrade. If it ain't broke,
don't fix it. I promise you that IE6 is not a better product; they're both the same,
in my experience; and I see that Keith reckons IE5.5 is actually the more stable
of the two.
