Open Windows Explorer, and on the menu bar go to TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS and click on the "File Types" tab.

Scroll down the list until you get to the extension WMV, and highlight it by clicking it once. Then click "Advanced", then highlight the default setting which is the setting in bold face (usually "Play"), and click "Edit" (noticing, in passing, that this currently indicates RealPlayer), then click "Browse", and browse through the folder "C:\Program Files" to find the new program you want to use to open WMV files, click on it's icon, then click "Open", then click "OK", then click "OK", then click "OK". That should do the trick!

Your computer will then use your chosen program in future, to play WMV files, in place of RealPlayer.
