" --- Your hard drive is (probably) dying. If you want any data from that drive, back it up now. If you cannot back it up, I wouldn't use it until you can. Afterwards, you can try scandisk, but it sounds like the boot sector is worn. If you just want to get a used drive to replace it, start another thread asking about free disk imaging software.
