I have checked the registry using the windows system tools as well as ccleaner and easy cleaner and found nothing. There is only one desk.cpl file and that is listed in the system folder of windows itself as it should be. All i can think of is that the nvcpl.dll file is corrupt which i believe it relates to. However there are two files with that name: 'nvcpl.dll' in windows/system, and 'NvCpl.dll' in c:\nividia\win9x\81.98.
