So you exposed your backup to the same problem, hmmm. Not good troubleshooting technique.
Might be worthwhile posting the complete error message
someone might recognize it.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the offending program on one drive only. Knowing
HP you'll also have to search for orphaned files and registry entries. HP sometimes
leaves entries in Msconfig.
And you thought it was your computer!
Also consider, that corupting your backup by opening the
Director Window on your primary may have set registry entrys on the primary HDD relating
to both instances of the program. Assuming, of course, that you have an Operating
system on both drives.
I had a HP printer that crashed on my C:\ and I used the same printer software on
my backup Drive . The printer did not crash on the secondary, but I could not reinstall
the software on C:\ untill I disconnected the backup drive from the IDE cable. HP
refuses duplicate installs of the same device.
Probably could have just pulled the Power connector, but pulld both after several
hours spent trying to reinstall.
