You can open Control Panel - Multimedia and Show volume control on taskbar. If you double click on the icon that should bring up Sndvol32.exe. So if you double click on C:\Windows\Sndvol32.exe nothing happens? Does your system play or make any sounds at all? Are you sound drivers up to date? Do your speakers work?
