Thank you for the help in allowing me to finally getting the cd drawer open. The
response that suggested I use a paper clip did the trick. I was not able to open
the drawer on 2 computers that use the windows 98 operating system and the paper
clip opened them both. One actually works fine now whereas the other, at times, still
needs the paper clip to open but I believe that the drives are fine because the computers
recognize whatever cd I put into that drive and plays it without a problem. Perhaps
it is an overheating problem as you suggested for I do keep the computer that is
still not opening all of the time in a very hot room (which I know is not a good
idea!). Thanks again very much for everyone's responses.
