Nicki,

eMachines require that you use the Restore CD that came with the machine. Installing 
Win98 from an MS Win98 CD probably wiped out some of the eMachine proprietary Drivers.

You may still have what you need if you did NOT Format the HDD.

Post back with what you did to reinstall Win98. 

Also supply the Model # of your machine ie.. e tower 333i,
eTower 500ix ?
