Win 9X has built in generic drivers. If one of them is the same as the native resolution
of your flat panel, it should work. However, Win 9X is very old and high resolutions
of today were not much thought of when Win 9X was released. Few higher res LCD's
have good drivers or any at all for the old Windows.
Portables often use propriatary drivers. If all the help files were installed in
your Windows 9X installation, there should be assistance for setting up the generic
monitor profile. I know for a fact that there was one for 1024x768@75Hz.. Not sure
anymore if the resolution went higher than that or not, but it could have. (LCD's
usually are best run at 60 Hz, no matter what resolution you use)
Are you running Win 9X on this laptop? If it didn't come with Win 9X, then this
will be a problem as you probably don't have the correct video drivers either. You
might try the Dell forums. Have a better chance of finding an answer there than
here. Good Luck!
