Shared peripherals need other users to essentially "log in" to your machine.  They 
stay there until the session is closed or the user logs off/shuts down their machine 
or the session times out.  Other possibility is your machine is infected with malware 
that is sharing your computer with unauthorized users over the internet/LAN.  A serious 
malware/antivirus scan may be in order with utilities looking for anything suspicious.
