And another way to fix your picture viewing is to download: It is a very user friendly image viewer and editor.

Its image enhancement features have allowed me to use cheap digital cameras that took dark, blurry, bluish pictures and make them look good enough to email.

Irfanview has an easy screen in its options to assign it to any picture formats. It's a check off list and if you change your mind at any time later, Irfanview remembers the old association and puts things back the way they were.
