You really put a burden on the volunteers.
Had you ever LOOKED at one of your own posts you would know they look like blobs:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/1188980603
   (Not
that they should.)

If, before posting again,
you made sure the **No preview** box near the bottom of this page
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/config
is NOT ticked, you could see what your posts look like
BEFORE submitting them.
(A really BAD choice of defaults[1] on the part of the Webmaster.)

WRT the **Check this box to preserve your spacing** thing,
where the posting page says
**Don't use this option unless you really need it**,
it should say
**Use this option unless you know how to format a paragraph with HTML**.

I suggest that anyone who doesn't know how to do that
(or who knows how but is unwilling to) should tick the box when posting.

Again, more difficult than necessary for us to figure out what you are talking about.
A link to that would be useful.
(At the bottom of all pages on this site is a **Find my most recent posts** link.)
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum_search?user=1121270907&requested=win98
...then use the QuickLink button.

Your previous problem was about you trying to write to READ-ONLY media (CD-ROMs).
Hard drives are NOT read-only media.

Keith's **infection** notion sounds probable to me.

Your hard disk could also be in its death throes.

(See "thorough".)
If your data isn't backed up, RIGHT NOW would be a prudent time to do that.

Another cause might be a full-up root directory:
Some people allow ungodly amounts of files (not just *folders*)
to be put in C:\ . BAD IDEA.
The MyDocuments paradigm of Win9x should have cured this
--but some folks are stubborn/uninformed.

[1] Actually, it's the Webmaster's text-to-HTML converter that sucks.
