Quick Launch small icons are gone

Hello. This another odd quirk of Windows. I've got an annoying Internet Explorer plug-in: something unwanted that didn't allow me to open an Internet window in full screen. So... to get rid of it I manually cancelled all the folders named Internet Explorer. Then, I've re-installed the operating system and I.E.6 (I didn't reformat the HDD, just over written). Now everything seems to work but.... I don't have the 3 usual small "Quick launch" icons (Show desktop, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express) which are usually right of Start tab. Instead I have a gray empty bar. This is not the first time that I overwrite the O.S. and Internet Explorer, but it's the first time that I have this problem. Anyone can give me a solution? How can I have again the 3 Quick launch icons? Thanks in advance.
