STOP PROGRAMS RUNNING AUTOMATICALLY AT STARTUP
If you have too many programs running automatically at startup DO NOT attempt to
edit the Registry directly. That way leads to tears before bedtime.
1. Go to:
START > PROGRAMS > STARTUP
and delete the shortcuts there.
2. Disable programs using System Configuration Utility:
Click on START then on RUN, and in the "Open" box that pops up type MSCONFIG then
click "OK", to open the System Configuration Utility.
Click its STARTUP tab. On that tab, untick the entry for the troublesome program(s),
then click "OK". Restart your computer. The program(s) will no longer load automatically
on startup.
If this proves to be a problem, go into the System Configuration Utility again, re-tick
the entry for that program, click "OK", and restart the computer. The program(s)
will then run on startup automatically every time, as before.
