Thanks for the reply. I did wipe the drive and fdisked it and used the Toshiba factory boot floppy to format it. (On the Toshiba Floppy there are files for "set up" and a CD rom dirver I installed them from the floppy.) When I put in the restore disk from Toshiba a banner read: "Wrong Machine." I reformated the hard drive and installed a regular install of Windows 98 and then updated it to Windows 98SE. It is a Toshiba Laptop Model 1555CDS. I don't have any problem with reinstalling everything from the factory disk if someone can tell be how to get it to work. Sincerely, John
