Hi John.
Well does it recongnise the CD Rom drive in DOS?
If you don't have a boot disk then download one from Bootdisk.
Check and change the boot sequence in the BIOS so it will read the floppy drive first.
Start your computer up with the boot disk inserted.
Once you see the A:\ just type in the drive letter of your CD Rom drive, D: and enter.
If the prompt returns D:\ then its found the drive. Just insert any CD the type Dir
to show the files on the root of the CD.
If it changes to D:\ and shows the files then there doesn't appear to be anything
wrong with your drive in DOS. The problem must be in Windows.
If you start your computer up again and on your desktop just right-click on My Computer
and select properties and look in the Device Manager tab. Is there anything listed
under CD Rom?
